Panasonic Malaysia Reports 116 COVID-19 Cases In Its Shah Alam Factories

Not too long ago, the Top Glove cluster, or better known as Teratai Cluster, shocked Malaysians due to the staggering numbers the cluster recorded and the fact that it has seeped into the community.

Now, another factory in Malaysia has recorded an alarmingly high number of COVID-19 cases within its premises.

According to the Malay Mail, Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Bhd recently confirmed that 116 of its employees have tested positive for COVID-19.

The company will be closing its two factories in Shah Alam for disinfection works from 21 to 23 December following the advice of the Petaling district health office.

In announcement, Panasonic says: “The company had completed full screening of about 2,137 workers and employees and only 116 were found to be affected.”

Panasonic added that it has been conducting disinfection exercises at its premises and workers’ accommodation regularly, and will continue to adhere to COVID-19 related standard operating procedures (SOPs).

A lot of companies are doing mass testing lately.

The government has made it mandatory for foreign workers to undergo COVID-19 screening as of 1 December following the rapid increase of cases in factories and construction sites.

The fight against COVID-19 is far from over, so try to stay home as much as possible.
