Congratulations Paralympian Abdul Latif Romly and silat practitioner Siti Rahmah Mohamed Nasir for your awards! You've made your country proud.

According to Astro Awani, the pair was presented a trophy, a certificate and RM20,000 each by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V.

Abdul Latif was chosen because of his outstanding performance in the Rio 2016 Paralympic games setting a new world record for men's long jump while taking home the gold.

In fact, with the win, Abdul Latif became the first ever Paralympian in Malaysian sporting history to be named Sportsman of the Year.

Siti Rahmah on the other hand is a silat exponent who has won world titles.The 30-year-old from Terengganu won three titles consecutively at the 17th Edition of the World Pencak Silat Championships in Bali, Indonesia, last December.

She also achieved gold medals at the Netherlands Open World Silat Championships and the South East Asia Silat Championships here.
