The Pahang police have proposed to compound parents and schools that fail to adhere to SOPs set by the government, resulting in new clusters.

State police chief Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said that they would be sending the proposal to the state's COVID-19 task force, which is chaired by the state secretary, Datuk Seri Sallehuddin Ishak, Astro Awani reported.

Be responsible or face the consequences

Abd Jalil said that the police don’t want to issue compounds but are suggesting this as a last resort to ensure that all parties are held responsible, and clusters in schools can be avoided.

“Apart from the police and the schools, parents also need to be sensitive to their children’s situation.

If they have symptoms or are unwell, do not allow them to go to school because it risks causing unwanted things, which in turn make it difficult for others,” he said at a press conference after chairing the state police and state education department consensus meeting.

Schools will not be alone when dealing with SOP compliance issues.

Motorcycle patrol unit (URB) and mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) will be stationed at schools during peak hours, such as at the beginning and end of school sessions, to help monitor the situation.

To be honest, we’re not even sure why schools are open or why workplaces are allowed to operate at 100 per cent capacity again when many clusters originate from these places.
