PDRM: Lorry Driver Who Slammed Into Five Cars At Jalan Ipoh Was High On Drugs
Imagine you're driving home after a long day at work, minding your own business at the traffic light and all of a sudden, you're sardined in between the car behind you and the car in front of you.
That was exactly what happened to five drivers just yesterday.
Harrowing incident
On Monday (7 September), several video clips captured by dash cams showing a yellow lorry ploughing into a row of cars waiting for a traffic light at Jalan Ipoh in Sentul went viral on social media.In the videos, the lorry can be seen approaching the traffic lights at a very high speed before crashing into the cars.

— saya putar Halim (@Halimlahh) September 6, 2021In total, five cars were involved in the pile-up, but as seen in the videos, a yellow Perodua Myvi bore the brunt of the impact as the car was completely crushed.
Miraculously, the driver of the Myvi escaped with just minor injuries and he managed to climb out of his mangled car:

Driver was high on drugs
According to a report by Malay Mail, the police have confirmed that the driver of the lorry tested positive for drugs.Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, Assistant Commissioner Sarifudin Mohd Salleh, told the news site that methamphetamine and amphetamine were detected in the 25-year-old's urine.
ACP Sarifudin said that the driver was heading towards Sentul from Jalan Duta when he lost control of the lorry when he was approaching the traffic lights in front of the Jalan Ipoh Yong Tow Foo restaurant.
The police detained the driver on the spot, and had an alcohol test done on him, which turned out negative."He was subsequently taken to the Dang Wangi Police headquarters for a urine test and was found positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine," ACP Sarifudin was quoted as saying.
ACP Sarifudin added that the case has been classified under Section 44(1A) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Other drivers are safe
As for the other drivers involved in the crash, ACP Sarifudin said no casualties were reported.The 45-year-old driver of the yellow Perodua Myvi only sustained mild injuries to his face, ACP Sarifudin confirmed.
He was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) for further treatment.
Phew! We are glad that no one was seriously injured in the accident. We do hope that the lorry driver will get the most severe of punishments, because he totally deserves it.
