Penang Govt Renames Highway in Honour of the Late Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Flags to Fly at Half-Mast on Friday
To honour the legacy left behind by the late Malaysia's fifth Prime Minister, the Penang government will rename Lebuhraya Bandar Cassia to Jalan Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

As reported by BERNAMA, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the State Executive Council (MMK) unanimously approved the renaming decision.
At the same time, Chow said the state flag will be flown at half-mast at all government and local authority premises throughout the state on Friday.
Non-government premises owners are also urged to do so as a sign of respect.

“This proposal is meaningful in recognising the contributions of the late Tun Abdullah, who brought significant development to the state during his time as Prime Minister from 2003 to 2009,” he said.
Chow added that on August 24, 2004, it was the late Tun Abdullah who named Bandar Cassia. Therefore, the state government wishes to maintain the legacy of the late prime minister by renaming the highway in his honour.
He also noted that there are several other major projects in Penang that were initiated during Tun Abdullah's administration. Some of them include the RM1 billion expansion of the Penang International Airport, the RM2.7 billion Penang Sentral project, the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) and the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER).
