Perhilitan Warns Malaysians To Not Take Selfies With Stray Tigers

Ok guys, when you see a tiger roaming freely on a road, do you stop to take a selfie or not stop and run for your life instead?

As you ponder about the question, the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has made it clear that they do not want the public to take a selfie with the wild animal.

Perhilitan issued the caution after news of two tigers seen roaming freely in Kampung Besul, Terengganu went viral and have been pulling in the crowd, Astro Awani reported.

Perhilitan director-general Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim said the caution was to avoid any untoward incident, and has warned Malaysians against going to the area to stalk the animals.

"The public is reminded not to go to the area if they have no business there.

"Villagers are also reminded to be careful and to not provoke the tigers," he said in a statement posted on Facebook

He also urged the public to report directly to the state Perhilitan on any matters involving wildlife for swift action.

As of Monday, the New Straits Times reported that one of the tigers have been captured and transported to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre (NWRC) in Sungkai, Perak, while the hunt is still on for the other tiger.

The tiger is a fully protected species under the Second Schedule of the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 [Act 716], so we all have to play our part to ensure the survival of the animal.
