Previously, Pets Wonderland came under fire after a concerned Malaysian highlighted the presence of seemingly malnourished puppies at its Mid Valley outlet.

After the images went viral, many social media users raised concerns about animal welfare. Meanwhile, My Forever Doggo shared several Google Reviews from various users expressing frustration over the condition of animals sold at Pets Wonderland outlets.

In response, Pets Wonderland stated that the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) had inspected the animals and confirmed they met the required condition scores.

The company has since announced plans to phase out the sale of pets across all its outlets

Following extensive dialogue with customers, animal welfare organizations, and internal teams, Pets Wonderland issued a statement confirming it will stop selling cats and dogs at its outlets, with the transition beginning by the end of August.

The company added that the transition will start with its Mid Valley KL outlet, with full implementation across remaining locations expected by the end of the year—or sooner.

Regarding the animals currently in their care, Pets Wonderland assured that all pets will be rehomed responsibly and compassionately.

“As part of this transition, we will continue to provide high-quality pet supplies and expert guidance, while actively partnering with shelters and rescue organisations to promote adoption efforts.

"This is a significant change for us, but we believe it marks a meaningful step toward a kinder and more ethical pet industry.”
