More incentives for the fully vaccinated

On Thursday (19 August), caretaker Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced several more leeways for states under Phase One of the National Recovery Programme (NRP).

This time around, fully vaccinated Malaysians can dine-in at their favourite restaurants and participate in non-contact sports starting Friday (20 August).

Muhyiddin said the decision was made after chairing a special National Security Council (NSC) meeting.

Like the previous leeway announced last Sunday (15 August), Malaysians would have to provide proof that they've received two doses of vaccination to 'enjoy' the extra freedom.

For dine-ins, Muhyiddin stressed that restaurant operators must ensure that customers display their vaccination certificates before being allowed entry.

Outdoor sports that are allowed include jogging, cycling, badminton, tennis and golf, among others, but you're only allowed to participate in the sports from 6am to 10pm daily.

"For your information, the considerations made today take into account the positive development of the complete vaccination rate of the adult populations across the country, which has exceeded 50 per cent. This was earlier than previously targeted 31 August.

"In addition, the meeting also took note of the positive early developments from the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) in several states namely Labuan, Sarawak, Negri Sembilan and states in the Klang Valley," he wrote.
