If you're a fully vaccinated Malaysian staying in the big city, there's more good news for you.

Moving into Phase 2

On Wednesday (8 September), the government announced that they will be abolishing all the roadblocks between Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor.

As Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob also announced that the Klang Valley will be moving into Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), fully inoculated Malaysians are free to move around the three districts without any roadblocks.

This will take effect on Friday (10 September), Ismail Sabri told New Straits Times.

The decision was made by the Special Committee on COVID-19 Pandemic Management on Wednesday.

On top of being able to travel between districts, there are also other 'perks' that come with being upgraded to Phase 2.

Among them include interstate travels between fully vaccinated long distance couples and dine-ins in restaurants.

"Parents who have completed both doses of their vaccination are also allowed to travel inter-state to meet their children who are below 18.

"Also allowed are tourism activities within the same state which involve accommodations at hotels and homestays for individuals who have been fully inoculated," Ismail Sabri was quoted as saying.

More SOP relaxations coming soon

The Special Committee on COVID-19 Pandemic Management has also agreed to relax more SOPs for fully vaccinated Malaysians living in states categorised under Phase 1 of the NRP.

Among them include those for sports and recreational activities.

"The meeting decided to allow indoor sport activities, except for gyms, for people who have been fully vaccinated (residing in states which are still under Phase One of the NRP).

"Commercial indoor sports and recreational facilities are also allowed to operate under supervision and only for customers who have been fully inoculated.

"The utilisation of these facilities must be made on an appointment-basis and it must adhere to the SOP," Ismail Sabri said in a statement.
