If there’s one thing we Malaysians fear the most when it comes to tolls, it’s having insufficient balance in our Touch 'n Go card and being the cause of the long line at the toll booth.

It’s definitely a nightmare, especially if there’s no reload booth in sight!

Well finally, some people have come to their senses and decided that highway users will soon be able to pay their toll fare using other methods besides their Touch ‘n Go cards and SmartTAG.

According to Berita Harian, PLUS highway users will be able to pay for their toll using their credit or debit card, as well as their eWallets by the end of this year.

The news we've been waiting for!
PLUS is in the midst of upgrading their toll plaza infrastructure in order to introduce new payment methods.

PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail, said that besides the credit and debit card option, users can also soon link their any eWallet including the Touch ‘n Go eWallet to PLUS RFID once the upgrade is complete.

The new payment system would allow for a more seamless experience at toll booths to avoid congestion due to insufficient balance.

“One of the main reasons that the toll plazas are always congested is because road users do not have enough balance in their Touch ‘n Go card as they’ve forgotten to reload in advance,” Azman said to the Malay daily.

The top up lane was doing fine until they decided to reduce it *facepalm*
Apart from the toll payment method upgrade, PLUS is also upgrading 1,400 CCTV cameras, by equipping them with Ultra HD resolution.

Well, it’s about time road users are able to pay using these methods and we hope that other highway concessionaires will follow suit soon.
