Don't worry, guys; the day is coming soon.
We're almost there!
The government has assured Malaysians on Wednesday (22 September) that interstate travels will be allowed once the vaccination target has been hit.Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said in a statement quoted by New Straits Times that interstate travel and the reopening of other tourist destinations will be allowed once 90 per cent of the country's adult population has been fully vaccinated.
He said the matter was raised and decided upon during the Special Committee on COVID-19 Pandemic Management, which he chaired.
According to Ismail Sabri, the easing of the travel restrictions is subjected to data and analysis conducted by the Ministy of Health.
However, Ismail Sabri has also warned Malaysians against abusing the freedom that they'll be given.
"With the easing of restrictions, the government calls on the people to benefit from the privileges with full discipline and a sense of responsibility.
"Comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) on COVID-19 prevention, wear a face mask, practise physical distancing and continue to maintain cleanliness as well as the new norms to protect yourself," he said as quoted in the report.
As of 21 September, 80.2 per cent of the country's adult population has been fully vaccinated, figures from the COVID-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) reveal.
It will be a couple of weeks more before we achieve the target, so just hang in there a while longer, OK?
