By now, you would most probably have seen the pictures and videos of a submerged Kuala Lumpur circulating on social media:

The flash floods came without a warning, as heavy downpour caused several areas in the Klang Valley to be inundated.

As such, our Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, has got some word of wisdoms for you: don't drive into flooded areas.

'Please drive carefully'

On Monday (7 March), Ismail Sabri has advised Malaysians, especially motorists in the Klang Valley, to drive carefully and avoid driving into areas that are affected by the flash floods.

In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister said he was informed by the authorities that six areas in the city were submerged following heavy downpour.

“The relevant ministries and agencies have taken immediate action to ensure the safety of Keluarga Malaysia. Please drive carefully during the rain and, if possible, avoid the flooded areas,” he wrote.

Along with the post, Ismail Sabri also posted several pictures of the authorities carrying out rescue operations around the city.

According to Malay Mail, the heavy downpour caused massive chaos around the Klang Valley.

The police have stated that 22 areas in Kuala Lumpur have been flooded, with videos of cars and roads being submerged being shared online.

Flash floods also hit the Kesas Highway, forcing four lanes to be closed at the Awan Besar westbound toll plaza at KM48.3 heading to the Sukom interchange.
