On 26 and 27 May, the 2025 ASEAN Summit is scheduled to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

This year, it is expected that about 20,000 participants involving heads of state, delegates and officials from member countries, as well as dialogue partners like China and the Gulf countries, will be gathering here to attend this biannual meeting.

Taking into account the traffic disruption that may happen on the two days, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim encouraged companies with offices in the area of the summit to allow their staff to work from home (WFH).

Additionally, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil stated that the relevant Public Service Department (PSD) has issued a circular to allow public workers facing traffic congestion during the summit to apply for WFH.

Schools along the major routes to be used by the delegates will also be allowed to conduct online classes.

As of this article, the list of routes that would be used for the summit is yet to be announced.

But, in a report by NST, some of the routes involved included routes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Subang Airport and the Royal Malaysian Air Force base in Subang.

“Several other routes will be announced, particularly in areas around the KLCC summit venue and a number of hotels where ASEAN-GSC-China delegates will be staying,” he said.
