Other than having to face the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak, residents in Virginia have an additional problem do deal with.

Poisonous furry caterpillars have been appearing all over the place there.

According to a report in Daily Mail, the caterpillars look fairly harmless due to their furry coats but the whole body of the creature is covered with venomous spikes.

Packing a punch

Called the puss caterpillar, the creatures can cause intense pain when touched accompanied by swelling, fever and symptoms of shock.

The caterpillars, which are the larva of the southern flannel moth, usually live on trees but lately, they have been spotted in parks and other places too.

One resident who accidentally had contact with the caterpillar said it felt like a scorching-hot knife was passing through the outside of his calf!

That sounds extremely painful. Take care Virginia folks!
