Malaysia is home to many beautiful, mysterious caves, many of which are popular and some of which are unexplored.

Realising this, Pos Malaysia has taken a step in the right direction to bring these caves to light.

Through a stamp series called ‘The Caves in Malaysia’, Pos Malaysia features Gua Niah in Sarawak, Gua Gomantong in Sabah, Gua Tempurung in Perak and Gua Kelam in Perlis.

According to a report by Malay Mail, the caves-themed stamps are part of an effort to cherish and preserve the importance of Malaysia’s caves.

Group chief executive officer Syed Md Najib Syed Md Noor said most people are unaware that a lot of archaeological and paleontological treasures have been found in such caves.

“Prehistoric humans used caves for many purposes including shelter, ceremonies and burial of the dead.

“Therefore, it is our hope that this issuance will highlight the significance of caves to the general public, promoting the nation’s eco-tourism industry,” he was quoted as saying.

Let’s hope that with this initiative, our caves will be more recognised and treasured.
