Post 9/11 Violence in US: What We Know So Far
Yesterday, Americans had to relive the terrifying moment of fearing for their lives just one week after the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Three incidents took place throughout the US, in New York, Minnesota, and New Jersey. No one or any terrorist groups have come forward to claim the attacks so far. Therefore, officials are unable to confirm whether these three attacks are related or if it is linked to terrorism. Here’s what we know so far:
Thousands of people were expected to take part in a 5km Marine Corps charity race, The Seaside Semper Five at 9am in Seaside Park, New Jersey. But due to an unexpected delay, the race was scheduled to take off half an hour later. The bomb detonated at around 9.30am in a trash can causing a lockdown at the area and the cancellation of the charity event. No one was injured by the incident.
“Because of that delay there probably would have been a good number of people running past that trash can when it went off,” Ocean County Prosecutor’s spokesperson Al Della Fave told News 12 in an interview aired on CNN.
