And a window was most definitely created for nurses Azwa Nizar Anwar and Nurhafizah Abdul Aziz.

Azwa, from Tawau, Sabah and Nurhafizah from Senggarang, Johor met, became friends and eventually decided to marry each other while being stationed at a COVID-19 quarantine centre in Johor.

With big weddings not allowed due to the Movement Control Order (MCO), the two decided to splurge on an interesting wedding photoshoot instead.

Being nurses and as a way to remember the challenges of love and marriage during a pandemic, Azwa thought it would be quite a cool to take their wedding photos in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits.

"I purchased the PPE via Shopee sometime ago because I just wanted something to remember this pandemic by. It's just crazy what we're going through and how the world has changed now.

"Anyway, when discussing photo ideas, I suddenly thought that it would be pretty cool if we took some wedding pictures with PPEs on," said Azwa when speaking to Rojak Daily.

Against the idea

Azwa said Nurhafizah was initially against the idea as the PPEs covered their wedding outfits but warmed up to it once he explained why.

"I didn't even tell my photographer about my plan. He was shocked when I told him, but I think the photos turned out pretty great," he laughed.

Azwa said that his marriage to Nurhafizah was something that the couple never planned.

"We were just friends, and after working together at the quarantine centre, we ended up being best friends.

"Then one day he just asked my parents if he could marry me and everything fell into place after that," said Nurhafizah.

Azwa said that the two of them were actually quite sad because so many of their family members and friends could not be there on their big day but they were glad that they could share their joy through the photos.

"I've been getting a lot of blessings from friends, family and even strangers after the photos went viral," said Azwa.

He added that after the MCO was over, his hoped to finally bring his bride back to his hometown in Sabah and introduce her to his parents.

"My parents gave me their blessings via video call but I hope that we can all meet in person soon," he said.
