Boys and girls, the Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award Gala Dinner is set to be held for the second consecutive year this 14 December at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur.

According to a report by Malay Mail, the gala dinner, which is organised by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), will see the Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Awards and the Patron’s Awards being presented to individuals or organisations that have contributed significantly to the fight to end AIDS by 2030, while raising funds for the foundation.

Funds raised from the gala will be channelled to HIV prevention and education efforts, AIDS care and support for people living with HIV (PLHIV).

MAF chairman Prof Datuk Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman told the news portal that the money raised from the evening will go a long way in the foundation’s commitment to end AIDS in Malaysia within a decade.

“We have come a very long way in the last four decades of the HIV epidemic.

“We now have effective tools to prevent and treat the disease, so much so that there is a global goal to end AIDS by 2030,” she said in a statement quoted by Malay Mail.

She said the upcoming gala dinner will live up to its reputation as the most prestigious fundraiser in the city’s social calendar, with haute cuisine fine dining, an orchestra ensemble, live performance by Kris Dayanti and many other exciting surprises.
