While there are some of you who rely on the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) to travel to and from work, we all know that there are irresponsible Malaysians who use it to travel across borders without permission:

But no more, says the government.

Letters are expiring

The government has announced that all the letters issued by MITI used by those travel for work presently will expire on Monday (31 May), the New Straits Times reported.

This was announced by Senior Minister (security cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Sunday (30 May).

What this means is, beginning 1 June, Malaysians can't use the letters to cross state borders or districts anymore.

The new permission letters for work matters would be issued by the relevant ministries, Ismail Sabri said.

You can throw your letter away.
On Friday (28 May), the government announced that the whole of Malaysia will be put under total lockdown beginning 1 June.

The first phase of the lockdown will last until 14 June.

More roadblocks to be set up

To ensure that Malaysians are not going anywhere during the two-week period, the police have also announced that they will be increasing the roadblock count from the current 600 to 800 nationwide beginning 1 June onwards.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was quoted by Bernama as saying that around 70,000 members of the police force and agencies under the home ministry will be deployed to ensure that all the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are adhered to.

We believe we don't have to tell you to stay at home, you guys.
