Sigh, when will they ever learn?

The marshal of a motorcycle convoy is now in hot soup for acting like traffic police.

Clip has gone viral

A video showing a marshal acting like a traffic policeman and stopping traffic has gone viral on social media.

According to Harian Metro, the incident happened at a traffic light junction at Sua Betong in Port Dickson on Saturday (20 November).

In the 1-minute, 11-second video uploaded by Facebook user Epul Adam Helmet Bajet, the unidentified man can be seen blocking the junction with his motorcycle and waving his convoy of high-powered motorcycles, which was supposed to stop for the red light, through.

Here's the video:

Yeah, that's not very nice.

Police looking for the marshal

The video drew the ire of netizens, who condemned the marshal for unnecessary stopping traffic for his convoy.

However, the marshal will soon have a lot more trouble on his hand as the police are reportedly hunting him down.

Port Dickson District Police Chief Superintendent Aidi Sham Mohamed told Harian Metro that the police are looking to haul the marshal in for investigations.

"During the incident, the traffic light was clearly red and the purpose of the marshal's action was believed to give way to a group of high-powered motorcyclists moving in a convoy to pass the traffic lights.

"Police are tracking down the individual who acted as the marshal, and anyone who has information related to the incident can contact the Port Dickson IPD at the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division or call the direct line at 06-6472222," he was quoted as saying, adding that the convoy was heading towards the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway (SPDH).

According to Supt Aidi, convoy marshals are not allowed to stop, control or divert traffic on public roads without the presence of a police officer as it could be dangerous.

The case will be investigated under Section 21 of the Police Act and Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Well, let this be a lesson to all convoy marshals out there. Stopping or diverting traffic is against the law, so you really shouldn't do that.
