Who can forget the critically acclaimed movie 'The Wolf of Wall Street', starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie and more, especially considering all the controversy surrounding the film?
Well, it looks like the drama hasn't ended yet!
Jordan Belfort, the scammer whose story the movie was inspired by, is now suing former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's stepson Riza Aziz and Red Granite Picture, the company that produced the movie for USD300 million (RM1.2 billion).
Apparently, Belfort did not know that the money used to make the movie had not come from legitimate means.
He claims that this had 'tainted his rights to his story'.

According to a report published by The Star, the former banker, turned scammer, turned motivational speaker said that he would have never sold the rights to his memoire 'the Wolf of Wall Street' and its sequel 'Catching the Wolf of Wall Street' if he had known that the money was stolen from the Malaysian government.

This is quite hard to believe as there have been several reports in years past where he was quoted as saying that he knew that those involved in the movie were 'criminals'.
The report also stated that Red Granite's attorney, Matthew Schwartz of Boies Schiller Flexner, had rubbished the lawsuit, saying that it had no merit and was Belfort's way of trying to get out of his agreement with the company.
So much drama! It'll be pretty interesting to see if this new lawsuit will go anywhere.
