Retired Teachers, There’s A Total Of RM13.58mil Waiting To Be Collected By You
If your parents, uncle, aunty, friend, neighbour, or anyone you know is a retired teacher, you might want to share this exciting news with them.
It was discovered that a staggering RM13.58 million remain uncollected under the Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Guru-Guru (KWSG) since 2007.
The New Straits Times reported on Tuesday that a total of 1,910 teachers are members of the scheme who have been serving as government school teachers from 1950 to 2004.
According to Yayasan Guru Tun Hussein Onn (YGTHO) chief executive officer Zahirudin Mohammad Hanif, these teachers cannot withdraw the money until they have retired.

“As time passed, some remembered to claim their contributions while others did not come forward to withdraw their money,” he told the English daily.
KWSG was established in 1962 to protect the interests and benefits of teachers serving in government schools under the Unified Teaching Service (UTS) Scheme.
The group has tried to trace down the recipients through newspaper advertisements and circulation notices but their efforts remain futile as most of the retired teachers were untraceable due to the change of addresses and contact number. Some of them have even migrated to another country.
KWSG was officially abolished in 2015 and was replaced with YGTHO. The unclaimed money was handed over to the Unclaimed Money Registrar under the Finance Ministry.
If your family member or parents happen to be a retired teacher under this scheme but has passed away, the next-of-kin is also eligible to collect the fund.
“They only have to bring along letters or document to prove they are related to the deceased. This document must be endorsed by a Grade A civil servant or a village head.”
"We will arrange for everything else, including how to go about claiming the money from the Unclaimed Money Registrar,” Zaihrudin said.
