Atas countries including France, UK, US and many more have been trying to dump their sampah in Malaysia and our Environment Minister has had enough of it.

Minister Yeo Bee Yin said that Malaysia has sent back a total of 3,737 metric tonnes of waste and added that those seeking to make Malaysia their dumping ground can 'dream on'.

(Super badass kan?)

Illegal waste being smuggled into Malaysia

According to Time.com, tonnes of unwanted rubbish has been making its way to Southeast Asia after China banned the import of plastic waste in 2018.

Take this back, guys!

The good news is, many countries, including Malaysia, are pushing back!

Yeo said that the returning of illegally dumped waste was done following strict enforcement, including the blocking of illegal waste smuggling at our ports and the closing down of more than 200 illicit recycling plastic factories across the country.

Sending the rubbish back

Since the third quarter of 2019, Malaysia has sent back a total of 150 containers of plastic waste!

The breakdown:

France - 43 containers
United Kingdom - 42 containers
United States - 17 containers
Canada - 11 containers
Spain - 10 containers
Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Portugal, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Lituania - 10 containers (in total)

Seriously, we're already trying out best to deal with our OWN rubbish problems, don't la dump more on us! #spreadlovenotrubbishk
