Just a month after the government announced more flexibility for us under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO), some stubborn Malaysians have been taking advantage of the relaxed guidelines.
So much so that local authorities are threatening to take it all back.
Malaysians are not listening
The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has threatened to close all parks under its jurisdiction if parents of young children continue to ignore the regulations and the standard operating procedures of the RMCO.
KL Mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan was quoted by Malay Mail as saying that the authorities found a lot of Malaysians have been defying the notice at the Perdana Botanical Garden prohibiting the use of its children’s playground.
According to Nor Hisham, the DBKL has issued several public appeals to parents to keep their children away from the playground, but the pleas have unfortunately fallen on deaf ears.
“DBKL warns that if this situation isn’t contained, it will shut all parks until the public obeys the SOP put in place by the Health Ministry,” he told Malay Mail.
During the Movement Control Order (MCO), all public parks were ordered to close, but they were allowed to reopened after the RMCO was announced in June.
However, as the number of active cases continue to rise, the government is now forced to take extreme measures to ensure that the country will not be swept by the COVID-19 pandemic again.
So guys, please heed the warning issued by the authorities and use the facilities provided to you responsibly - and don’t let your kids play in the playground for now!
