According to a report by Astro Awani, quoting Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA), the nighclub did not receive the necessary licence to operate.
“Based on the information we received, the management has violated the law by not obtaining an operating license from the authorities, " it said in a statement.
Without further details, the GEA stated that at the beginning, the central management received a permit to run 'something else', but eventually misused it.
Even though most people labelled the highclub as a ‘Halal Disco’, Saudi media reported that it was just a luxury cafe complete with ‘high-level entertainment’.
The opening of the nightclub received overwhelming response because people were curious to know how a halal nighclub would look like.
However, the crowd was reportedly asked to disperse as authorities checked the premise. It is understood that the opening of the club is in line with a beach festival in Jeddah.
Apparently, famous US singer Ne-Yo reportedly made an appearance at the opening of the nightclub.
