We usually go about our daily lives without giving a thought to all the small things in life – like, you know, bees.

However, it looks like its high time we pay attention to them because they have now been declared as the most important living being on the planet.

According to website Unilad, the declaration was made by the Earthwatch Institute at the last Royal Geographical Society of London meeting recently.

So, why are these scary insects so important?

Quoting The Science Times, Unilad reported that 70 per cent of the world’s agriculture depends exclusively on bees, as pollination enables the plants to reproduce. Without them, the fauna would soon begin to disappear.

Bees are also the only living being that does not carry any type of pathogen, said a study conducted by the Apiculture Entrepreneurship Center of the Universidad Mayor (CeapiMayor) and the Apiculture Corporation of Chile (Cach), with the support of the Foundation for Agrarian Innovation (FIA).

Sadly, the bees are on the endangered species list, as almost 90 per cent of its population has disappeared due to uncontrolled use of pesticides, a lack of flowers, and deforestation.

So, it looks like the only way we can restore the situation is by prohibiting the use of pesticides and promote completely natural agricultural alternatives as believed by activists.

We can collectively make a difference if we make the effort! Remember, the bees depend on you.
