The second round of opt-in for AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination will be opened to the public on 23 May 2021 but not everyone can register for it yet.

Coordinating minister for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin, in a tweet, said that the opt-in would be available for those who are 60-years-old and above.

Available in several states

According to the minister, the vaccine will be available in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sarawak and Johor. These states have recorded some of the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases.

Those interested in getting the vaccine can do so via this website and community clinic outreach.

Khairy said that AZ also would be sent to elderly care homes.

Malay Mail reported that the second round of AZ opt-in will be open to those below the age of 60 on 26 May if there are more doses left.

“High risk groups such as those above the age of 60 will be given early access for the AstraZeneca vaccine registration for round 2.

“In tandem with rising cases, the vaccine registration will also be extended outside of the Klang Valley to three other states, namely Johor, Sarawak and Penang due to high Covid-19 cases in these states,’’Khairy reportedly said.

Hopefully the second round of registrations and vaccinations go smoothly.
