A new COVID-19 outbreak has been detected in the Klang Valley, and this time, it's in a hospital.

On Thursday (17 December), the Selangor Health Department has confirmed that a hospital in Klang has fallen victim to a COVID-19 outbreak.

New Straits Times reported that more than 50 medical personnel as well as patients from the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) have tested positive for the virus.

Selangor health director Datuk Dr Sha'ari Ngadiman told the daily that those affected have been transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for further treatment.

At the moment, Dr Sha'ari said authorities have not been able to pinpoint the source of the infection.

"This could have taken place before patients were warded in the hospital or even when the patients were undergoing the 14-day incubation period," he was quoted as saying.

Dr Sha'ari added that the situation is currently under control, and all close contacts have been identified, undergone swab testing and placed under the Home Surveillance Order (HSO).

He also advised the public to avoid visiting the hospital unless it's really urgent.
