Selangor Team Crowned Champions of Mobile Legends Bang Bang at Esports World Cup, Wins RM4.66 Million
If you’re still frowning upon your child playing mobile or computer games, you might want to think again, as it’s become a lucrative profession. The Selangor Red Giants became the first Malaysian team to win a major international Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) title after clinching the trophy at the Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024. They also went home with a staggering US$1 million (RM4.66 million). As part of the Esports World Cup line-up, MSC offered a lucrative US$3 million (RM14.1 million) prize purse.
The Cup’s final was held in Riyadh, where they defeated the current world champions, the Falcons AP.Bren. The final score was 4-3 in an electrifying best-of-seven game final.
Red Giants had previously defeated NIP Flash of Singapore 3-0 in the semi-finals. Haqqullah Ahmad Shahrul Zaman, better known as Sekysss, was also named the most valuable player in the final.

As reported by NST, the 18-year-old said, "If we do not get comfortable or complacent, we can carry our momentum into the upcoming competitions. We must maintain our routine, train, and work hard. We still have other tournaments to play after this and will continue to focus. We will give our best. Although this (MSC) is a big tournament, I am still unsatisfied."
He also added that he wasn’t going to squander cut of the prize money because he was still young. Sekysss said he would not buy a car or other necessities but instead save money first.
A Watch Party was even held at Restoran Hakim Seksyen 7, where hundreds of fans gathered to watch the final. They jumped out of their seats and cheered as the team emerged victorious.

Additionally, the semi-finals and final of the M6 World Championships are set to be held at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil at the end of the year.
Congratulations to the Red Giants, and bravo for making Malaysia proud!
