It was a valiant effort by our national shuttlers Goh Liu Ying and Chan Peng Soon as they exchanged strokes with Indonesia's Liliyana Natsir and Tontowi Ahmad which ended in an emotionally draining final that concluded in a 14-21, 12-21 loss.

The Indonesian pair had previously won a Silver medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a Bronze at the 2012 London Olympics losing to South Korea and Denmark respectively. This is the first gold for the players and the first gold for Indonesia in a mixed doubles event.

Congratulations Goh Liu Ying and Chan Peng Soon for being the first ever Malaysian badminton mixed doubles Silver medalists.
