Singapore Zoo Builds Obstacle Course To Keep African Penguins Occupied During Circuit Breaker

With most of Singapore in Circuit Breaker mode (their version of the MCO/lockdown), animals have had more time to wander around without having to worry about pesky humans.

At the Singapore Zoo, African penguins were allowed to explore the children’s playground and the areas around their enclosure after the zoo shut its doors to visitors.

I think I'll go on the slide next.
The keepers also surprised the penguins by setting up an obstacle course for them within their enclosure.

A brand new experience

According to a report by Malay Mail, a video shared by the zoo’s operator Wildlife Reserves Singapore shows the penguins discovering a new play area after returning from a swim.

The obstacles include a ball pit and a steep, sandy terrain.

Fun for the whole gang.
The video explained that African penguins’ natural habitat includes sandy and rocky areas.

The obstacle provides a more enriching experience for the penguins and also served as a way to keep them occupied during the circuit breaker period.

That's extremely thoughtful of the zoo to keep the cute little penguins entertained.
