Singaporean Man Dies Right After Catching Rare Pokémon
It was a fatal catch for an elderly Pokémon GO player in Singapore as he passed away moments after catching a rare Pokémon.
According to a news report by Asia One, the 67-year-old man reportedly suffered a heart attack right after catching a Lapras – considered a rare species in the game – at the Marina Bay Sands last Sunday.
The man’s wife told the news portal that the man had left home in the afternoon after celebrating a family member’s birthday to go Pokémon hunting at Marina Bay Sands.
However, she received a call from the hospital at around 6pm, informing her that her husband had suffered a heart attack.
"There was a sudden call from the hospital after 6pm. The medical staff told us to come see him one last time. At that moment, I knew things were bad," she was quoted by Asia One as saying, adding that her late husband had a history of cardiac arrest.
According to a statement released by Singapore’s Civil Defence Force, which was cited by the news portal, paramedics rushed the man to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) at 5.30pm.
He reportedly passed away shortly after being admitted to the hospital.
Asia One also reported that GPS checks on the man’s smartphone showed that the man had indeed managed to catch a Lapras and another Pokémon called Granbull at the Sands before he suffered a heart attack.
