Are you into video games? If you answered yes to that question, you are going to love this.

That's because a Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios is reportedly set to open on Malaysian soil next year!

The Star Online reported that the main objective of opening the studio is to produce art and animation for upcoming PlayStation exclusive titles.

According to the report, this will be the company's first Southeast Asian studio, which will be built in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia.

Good news for the local video game industry.
"With this establishment, Malaysia will be working closely with Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios to create more opportunities for the local and regional games industry.

"Together, we will work to uplift creative talents in Malaysia and even establish a partnership with our local educational partners," Communications and Multimedia minister Gobind Singh Deo was quoted as saying.

The report further said that Malaysia has successfully built its local digital creative content industry over the past two decades by creating 149 IP titles, generating RM7.6bil revenue and export sales of RM1.3bil with a global reach to over 120 countries.

Well then, with the opening of this studio, maybe we will see more made-in-Malaysia video games?

We certainly hope so!
