Following the decision, the Japanese government has decided to set a number of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s to eliminate any chances of an outbreak.
According to a report by Mashable SEA, citing Japan Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, among the SOPs set include a limit of 10,000 spectators and compulsory mask-wearing at the games.
While the exact number of spectators may change due to ongoing discussions, some other previously announced SOPs would remain as well.
Cheering loudly prohibited
Among them is the ruling that “cheering loudly” would be prohibited. The SOPs also require for spectators to return home immediately after attending sporting events.
Additionally, the report said that spectators would be allowed to clap and not cheer during the torch relays.
Both fans and the athletes are definitely going to feel a difference during the games this time.
Hopefully the SOPs help.
