Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been sentenced to 12 years jail and fined RM210mil for misappropriating RM42mil from SRC International Sdn Bhd.

Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali sentenced Najib to 12 years jail and fined him RM210mil, in default 5 years jail, for abuse of power today (28 July).

He also sentenced Najib to 10 years jail for each CBT charge (there were three charges) and 10 years jail for each money laundering charge (there were three charges).

Justice Mohd Nazlan also ordered for the sentences to run concurrently.

This means that despite being sentenced to a total of 72 years in prison, Najib will only serve 12 years behind bars.

Earlier today (28 July), Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali found Najib guilty of all seven charges related to the scandal.

The 1MDB case has shook the entire world.

In case you guys don't know, SRC International is a subsidiary of 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

This case is the first in a series of cases involving the 1MDB scandal.

Making on oral statement from the dock, Najib spoke about his past acheivements and contributions.

He later added "As a Muslim, I say this once again. Wallahi wabillahi watallahi. I did not demand for the RM42mil and I did not plan for it. It was offered to me. I have no knowledge of the RM42mil. That's all I have to say." as reported by The Star.

Najib's lawyers are expected to file for an appeal.
