A shop owner near the Banjaran Titiwangsa Rest Area have had customers from all walks of life – except jungle beasts.

Shop owner Azizan Aziz said he was performing his Maghrib prayers when he heard a noise from outside.

“Someone in the shop shouted an elephant had entered the shop,” he told Harian Metro.

He said when he went out to see what’s happening, people were running around and an elephant was trying to grab some food from the display area.

Stopped by nets

Sadly, the elephant didn’t manage to get any food because he had installed nets around his shop

Azizan said this is not the first time he spotted elephants in the area and he was quite worried that it will return.

State Perhilitan director Yusoff Shariff admitted that the animal might return but advised people not to provoke it when it appears.

In a post on their Facebook page, Perhilitan said that their investigations revealed that the elephant had been roaming the area for a few days now looking for food.

Anyone who spots the creature or has information should call Perhilitan's hotline at 1800-88-5151.
