Tenant From Hell Leaves Holes All Over Walls, Tears Out a Sink, & Racks Up Electricity Bill Over RM2K

Renting out your additional property for extra income may seem like a no-brainer, but good tenants are usually more challenging to come by than bad tenants. Some tenants might end up completely ruining your house, as was the case of X user Cuka or @nxrhisyxm_, who shared his experience with a “tenant from hell.”

The tenant rented his brand-new home, but Cuka was forced to give a contract termination notice after renting it out for almost a year as the tenant failed to pay the last three months of rent. Cuka shared that the tenant was very polite and initially promised to make the home even better than it was, but that turned out to be the complete opposite. These are some of the horrible things Cuka shared that the tenant did.

The most shocking thing was the tenant racked up an electricity bill of RM2,244.10 in a month. He said there must’ve been many people living in the home, although it was only a couple with two children when they first signed the agreement. Were they mining bitcoins?

Another steep bill that the owner received was a water bill of RM593.44. Cuka said he told his wife they must’ve opened a car wash at his house, as his own water bill was less than RM20 a month.

Before entering the home, one could see the porch completely messed up with rubbish and dirt everywhere. What an eyesore, even for the neighbours!

The house was so new that it was still within the developer’s warranty period, but they made a massive hole in the wall, tried to cement it back, and did a terrible job.

Cuka said he felt trepidation even before stepping into the home. The tenant had placed a sign with the words bismillah on the walls, but they used double-sided tape and nails to put it up, which completely ruined the cement.

Although the house was originally white, they strangely decided to repaint it yellow. It was stipulated in the agreement that they were allowed to do so, but in the process of painting it back to white, they splattered paint all over the floor, railings, and even on the switches.

In addition, the paint was splattered all over the floor and made horrible marks everywhere. Evidently, they hadn’t covered the floor with paper before painting.

The owner said his house was ruined. There were nail marks everywhere, and they had nailed it so tightly that the paint and cement had fallen out. He said that he could’ve forgiven them if it had been done nicely, but they had wreaked havoc throughout the house.

Cuka had even made two separate sinks for a dry and wet kitchen, but they got rid of one sink completely. Gasp! He said that he burned with anger upon seeing this, and it looked like a house-sharing place instead of a family home.

Another thing that made his blood boil was that they used the wrong hook to hang curtains and installed them loosely. Cuka commented that this was an idiotic move as it could’ve fallen and injured their family members.

The damage was evident in the toilet, where they broke his towel rack. Were they exercising before taking a shower?

Cuka said he managed to evict the tenants, but they still owed him over RM500. After doing so, he and his wife began the tedious process of cleaning up the house. Because it was so grimy, they used numerous cleaning agents, such as Clorox and bicarbonate soda.

What a nightmare! Please think twice before renting out your property!
