It may seem like a cheap essential, but not everyone can effort face masks.

Seeing some of ther poorer school friends struggling to buy face masks, a pair of siblings from Terengganu has decided to lend a helping hand.

When there's a will, there's a way

Malay Mail reported that the siblings, Absarina Zakaria and Raudhah Zakaria, have started a crowdfunding movement to raise funds for the good cause.

And via their initiative, the siblings aged 14 and 16 managed to raise some RM600 from their friends and family.

Unfortunately, their school found out about their initiative and put an end to the crowdfunding.

What a kind gesture.
Undeterred, the duo turned to social enterprise HungerHurts Malaysia for help to continue their effort in helping the poor communities in Hulu Terengganu.

Through their Mask Up Project, the non-governmental organisation has been providing underprivileged communities with reusable face masks through public crowdfunding campaigns.

Thanks to their efforts, Absarina and Raudhah managed to raised a total of RM1,000.

“After collecting an initial RM600, we managed to collect RM200 more from the Hulu Terengganu Parliamentary office after they knew about what we were doing.

“And the other RM200 was through HungerHurts crowdfunding’s initiative,” Raudhah told the news portal.

The siblings' hard work has paid off, as they managed to distribute face masks to around 20 families from the B40 community in Kampung Bukit Ara, Kampung Jak, Kampung Peroh and SMK Menerong on Merdeka Day.
