We’ve heard many times that pairing durian with alcohol may not be the best idea, but we often wonder if that’s true as there is no scientific evidence to back that claim.

However, an incident in Thailand might just change your mind.

A 48-year-old man in Thailand was reportedly found dead at a bus stop near Pattaya last Wednesday (14 July) after he allegedly ate durian and pairing it with wine.

Malay Mail Online reported, quoting a report by China Press, that the deceased was found with an empty wine bottle and a polystyrene container containing durian.

His friend, only known as Peng, said that the man had bought the durian and wine after work to enjoy them while waiting for his bus home.

Despite Peng warning him about the dangers of having both durian and alcohol at the same time, the man reportedly said that he is not afraid and wanted to do so anyway.

Peng then went home only to return to the bus stop later to find his friend dead.

According to the local police, the man had died for five hours before his body was discovered at 6.30pm.

Although there's really no scientific evidence that prove durian and alcohol are a lethal combination, let's just play it safe, yeah, guys?
