Bangkok has decided to turn 15 disused trains into makeshift Covid-19 wards in light of escalating cases and slow vaccination roll out.
According to a report in Reuters, the makeshift wards are for those who experience less severe symptoms.
The train wards have started to house patients beginning July 31, said the report citing the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

The report also said that the wards will most likely serve as isolation wards for patients who are on the hospital’s waiting list, for easier monitoring.
There will be 240 beds available in the trains when the authorities are done with modification.
"Some modifications are still to be done such as removing the top bunk beds, installing window nets, as well as water and electricity systems," BMA reportedly said in a statement, adding that more toilets and bathrooms will be built outside the carriages.
Well, it’s better to utilise available resources like this!
