“Thank You Menteri” – Netizens React To News Of CMCO In KL, Selangor, And Putrajaya
Recently, many of us felt that the possibility of another Movement Control Order (MCO) was inevitable especially since the number of COVID-19 cases has been spiking.
And sure enough, on 12 October, the government announced that a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Putrajaya effective 12.01am on 14 October until 27 October.
CMCO was also announced for the whole of Sabah from 13 October to 26 October.
The news came after many areas in Selangor and KL were declared red zones by the government.
Some Malaysians were shocked and saddened by the announcement while others expected it to happen sooner or later.Menurut Menteri Kanan Pertahanan, Datuk Seri @IsmailSabri60 PKPB di Selangor, WP Kuala Lumpur dan Putrajaya akan berkuatkuasa jam 12.01 tengah malam, 14 Oktober hingga 27 Oktober 2020.#NormaBaharu #DisiplinMalaysia #HapusCOVID19 pic.twitter.com/rpI1EI37cw— ??Astro AWANI?? There were also a handful of people who blamed the ministers who were involved with the Sabah state election for the spike in COVID-19 cases which eventually led to the CMCO.
Here’s what netizens are saying on Twitter:
All these irrelevant politicians and their machinery went to Sabah to campaign and made it worse. Then brought covid back to KL and Selangor. Then constantly remind ”orang ramai” to follow SOP and said theres no double standard. In the end, CMCO for KL and Selangor folks ????— Typical Malaysian (@TypicalMsian) October 12, 2020
I’m honestly worried and sad about those who’d be affected by the upcoming CMCO. I wish i mampu tolong a lot more but i rakyat marhaen je with limited means. Those with power & means to help, I hope you can utilise them & help those in need ❤️— Tatty Hassan (@TattyHassan) October 12, 2020

If you are not angry at the recent declaration to impose #CMCO in the Klang Valley, you are either privileged (T20, etc) or not paying attention. #PKPBThe harm that this will cause beyond the disease itself. I really don't know what to say.— Azrul Mohd Khalib (@azrulmohdkhalib) October 12, 2020
Another difficult period for those living in Putrajaya, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. But If you got cable besar or family and friend with Ministers, don't worry, langgar je. 2020 is the year of double standard anyway. #cmco #PKPB— Atteleth Don (@atteleth_don) October 12, 2020
My wedding ceremony this weekend unfortunately needs to be cancelled and the big part of it is because of the carelessness of some of the Malaysian politicians. Thank you so much. #PKPB #CMCO— Rizky (@rzkybsnd) October 12, 2020
Wondering if this CMCO could have been avoided if we had implemented mandatory quarantines for all coming from Sabah after the elections.Yes, I'm aware that this might have dissuaded some to go back to vote, but this could have been sidestepped by allowing postal voting, so...— Harris Zainul ?? Gara2 tak nak kuarantin menteri....— Siti Hawa Mohd Nor (@sitiawe_) October 12, 2020
Our government is reactive, not proactive. They had plenty of opportunities to prevent another MCO, but they didn’t take the chance.Maybe because even if MCO happens they still get their RM50k monthly salary.— Imran Sheik (@imranbsheik) October 12, 2020

For months, the country came together to fight and stop the spread of the pandemic. We did the impossible. We flattened the curve. Then came politics, and the rest is history.— Farhan (@lamkanahraf) October 12, 2020
Not everyone can afford to go through another CMCO as their livelihoods depends on daily salaries so we hope the government has devised plans to help those who are affected during this period. (@bulletofmine) October 12, 2020
Our fight against COVID-19 is definitely far from over so let’s stay at home, adhere to the SOPs set by the government, wear facemasks correctly if there is a need to go outside, practise social distancing, and frequently wash or sanitise our hands.
