These 440 Cat-People From Sarawak Just Set A Guiness World Record
It was the purr-fect setting to set a world record!
The state of Sarawak secured a place in the Guiness World Records book on Thursday for the largest gathering of people in cat costumes.According to The New Straits Times, a total of 440 people turned up in cat costumes at the Kuching Amphitheatre at around 5pm to set the record.
The record was officially certified by Guinness World Records Limited record manager Hoda Khacab.
The record-breaking event was held in conjunction with the 2017 Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA), which started on Thursday.
On Saturday, the AIFFA will welcome Hong Kong action megastar Donnie Yen to the festival, and he will be holding a meet and greet with fans this Saturday.
The Land of the Hornbills is no stranger to setting Guiness World Records, though.
In May last year, they entered the record books for crafting the world's longest rattan mat.
It took more than 400 people from the Orang Ulu community from Belaga and Sungai to handcraft the mat, which measured in at a jaw-dropping 1.128km long!
