Two Malaysian Teens Just Made History By Breaking Two ASEAN Championship Records!

It feels just like yesterday when we welcomed 2019, but now it’s already March. And what better way to start the month than with some inspiring news from our Malaysian athletes.

15-year-old Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi created history after setting a new record at the 14th SEA Youth Athletics Championships in Ilagan City, the Philippines.

According to Bernama, the teenager clocked an impresove 10.69s in the 100m boys event, breaking the record previously held by Thai native Rattanopon Sowan by a mere 0.05 seconds.

Bet he feels like this running to the finish line.

Another Malaysian sprinter, Muhammad Arsyad Md Saat, also bagged the silver medal in the same event with a time of 10.87s.

And the celebration does not stop there, because we broke another record in the boys’ shot putt category.

Jonah Chang Anak Rigan smashed his way to a new championship record of 18.03m -- and the gold medal -- in the shot putt category, beating Thailand’s Patcharapol Singrueang record of 16.76m.

Jonah's previous personal best was 16.90m which he achieved last year. Now, that's a huge jump from the 16m mark to the 18m mark!

Looking at the rate of records set by our young athletes, we’re very confident that they’ll have a bright future ahead of them and we'll continue to hear more great news from them.

Who knows, they’ll be world-record holders one day?
