Despite University Malaya (UM) appearing in the limelight for all the wrong reasons recently, the country’s oldest university is still pretty much respected all around the world due to its academic prowess.

In fact, its engineering studies have been listed as one of the best in the world.


The New Straits Times reported that UM’s Faculty of Engineering has been recognised as among the world’s best in the engineering studies category!

UM achieved a score of 84.1 in the Best Global Universities rankings, good for 15th spot in the list.

The list, published by the US News & World Report website, covers 1,500 of the world’s best universities.

UM graduates are also very employable.
In case you're wondering, the top spot was taken by Tsinghua University, Beijing, China which scored 100 points, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, United States at second (92.5 points) and the National University of Singapore round up the top three with 91.6 points.

Notably, Malaysia’s Universiti Teknologi Malaysia also made the list at the 40th place.
