By now, we’re sure that you’ve all heard the news that BM newspapers Utusan Malaysia and Kosmo! will be shutting down its operations due to financial difficulties.

Well, the good news is, the two publications are set to continue their publications as the management strives to get their finances in order.

However, both publications will be increasing the price of their editions by RM0.50, which means that Utusan Malaysia will now be sold for RM2, Kosmo! will be sold for RM1.50 and Mingguan Malaysia will be sold for RM2.50.

A glimmer of hope.
The new prices will come into effect this Friday, Malay Mail reported.

A source from Utusan Malaysia told the news portal that the company can survive if the sales targets are met.

The daily sales target is said to be RM50,000 to RM60,000 for Utusan Malaysia, and RM90,000 to RM100,000 for Kosmo!

In a briefing presented by Utusan’s Executive Chairman Datuk Abd Aziz Sheikh Fadzir to his staff, he mentioned that a total of RM3 million a month is needed just to pay salaries and he hopes that the new sales target can be achieved.

There's still a glimmer of hope for our brothers at Utusan Malaysia and Kosmo! after all.
