Money can buy luxury but not common sense.

This was proven in the case of an Indian couple who knowingly flouted the country's COVID-19 rules just to have a wedding party.

A clear violation

This is outrageous!
According to BBC, the couple reportedly rented out a Boeing 737 to have their wedding in the air, during a time where the country is struggling to handle a pandemic outbreak.

The Indian state of Tamil Nadu, where the flight was said to have originated, recently announced that only 50 guests are allowed at weddings.

To get around the restriction, the couple booked a chartered flight from SpiceJet Airlines to travel from Madurai for a two hour journey that will pass the historic Meenakshi Amman temple before returning to Madurai.

The couple managed to squeeze 160 (!!) guests in the plane, and a video posted onto social media by Twitter user Donthu Ramesh showed that many of the invited guests were not even donning facemasks or observing social distancing.

A spokesperson for SpiceJet Airline told the news portal that the aircraft was booked by a travel agent for a so called ‘a post-wedding joy ride’.

He added that the guests didn’t follow the COVID-19 guidelines, despite being reminded of them several times. The airline will reportedly take stern action on them.

An Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) senior official said that the airline crew involved have also been taken off duty.

India's aviation authority, meanwhile, has launched an investigation into a matter.

This is why we don't deserve nice things lah; pulling a stunt like this when times are so bad.
