[VIDEO] Egypt Opens Ancient Coffins Sealed 2,600 Years Ago Revealing Mummies Inside
If you haven’t heard already, Egypt discovered 59 coffins in August at the UNESCO world heritage site south of Cairo.
Now, the country has put the findings on display.
According to a report by Reuters, the coffins belonged to priests and clerks from the 26th dynasty nearly 2,500 years ago.
The coffins were reportedly buried along with 28 statues of the ancient Egyptian God Seker.
Mummified animals discovered too
Before this discovery, the Egyptian archaeological mission behind it had unveiled a cache of mummified animals, and a well-preserved tomb of a fifth dynasty royal priest called ‘Wahtye’ in the area.
The mission will continue opening the coffins and studying their contents before displaying them at the yet to open Grand Egyptian Museum.
What a find!
