Video of Maggots Crawling on a Table at a Nasi Kandar Restaurant in Kedah Goes Viral

In a video that has since gone viral on X as shared by an anonymous customer, maggots were spotted crawling on a table at a nasi kandar restaurant in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

In a post shared by X account @update11111, two videos were shared in which two small white maggots can be seen crawling across a metal table.

According to the anonymous user, the maggots emerged from a salted egg that was part of their meal.

The user also shared that upon informing the staff of the restaurant which had only been recently opened, no apologies were given and all they offered was a free meal.

Although the customer did not specify the name of the eatery, they said that it was located in Sungai Petani Selatan and is a newly opened shop that is pretty big and blue in colour.

The videos have gained more than 4,500 views with netizens criticising the eatery and asking the authorities to enforce stricter regulations on food safety and hygiene.

One user tagged the Health Ministry and commented, “This is the problem when too many mamak restaurants employ foreigners. Premises are dirty and the way they prepare food is unhygienic.”

“This is why I’ve banned nasi kandars. Disgusting,” commented another netizen.

We hope that the authorities look into this and do what’s necessary to ensure that the food being served to its customers is hygienic enough.
