We all remember how scary and how intimidating the first day of school can be.

Going to a new environment, seeing new people and staying away from home for six hours can be so overwhelming, it's not unusual to see Standard One students bawling their eyes out on the first day of school.

However, this one boy decided to skip all that and just make a run for it.

Run like your life depended on it

A one-minute-13-second video showing a school boy running away from school -- while carrying his school bag on his shoulders, nonetheless! -- has gone viral on social media.

The video of the 'daring escape' was shared on the Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS Facebook page on Monday (1 March), and it quickly racked up the views because of just how incredibly cute the boy looked.

Take a look at the video below:

According to the caption on the post, the video was recorded in Jengka 4, Pahang by a man believed to be a staff member of the primary school.

As the man gave chase to the speedy boy, he could be heard in the video pleading: "Come back here ‘dik’, there’s police ahead, let me send you home."

Clearly, the man was not going to outrun the boy, and when he stopped to catch his breath, a woman on a motorcycle, believed to be the boy's guardian, can be seen speeding towards the boy and stopped to pick him up.

Thankfully, the boy was unharmed and the man can now rest easy knowing that his yearly running quota has probably been filled just by chasing after the boy.

It took a motorcycle to catch up to the boy.
The video has since been viewed more than 880,000 times, with 8,555 shares at the time of writing, with many praising the man for trying his best to keep up with the boy.

There are also a number of netizens who were amazed by the boy's speed and stamina, with many labelling him as 'the next national sprinter'.

Who knows, we could very well see the boy representing Malaysia in track meets around the world in the future, kan?

And oh, please give the poor man a raise, because we feel he totally deserves it.
