Many Malaysians have lamented that their electricity bills have unusually skyrocketed, with some even seing an increase of more than 300 per cent.
This isn’t the first time news of drastic increase in electricity bills made rounds on the Internet and even on mainstream media, which is why this clip from a TV3 news reporter ending his report with a special pantun for TNB resurfaced.
Perfect for the situation

“Wahh iklan raya bukan main gempak,
Bil elektrik mencanak-canak,
Pengguna mengadu, kenapa cuak?
Eh, buat-buat tak nampak.”
“Alamak, kenapa tiba-tiba gelap?
Pengguna membazir katanya,
Kena lah berjimat cermat,
Semoga ada sinar menerangi Aidilfitri nanti.“
The news snippet went viral on Twitter, even though it was from a news report dating to 30 May 2019, because many users still think it sounds relevant until today.
In fact, the reporter, Safwan Sawi, has gone viral a few times in the past for his cheeky pantuns, and even suggested that he might be back with a new pantun since the electricity bill issue is still rampant.
Netizens praised the reporter for his style of reporting and some even shared their plight dealing with costly electricity bills that makes no sense.
Weh saya suka bro macam ni. Jarang media massa kat Malaysia berani bersuara mencerminkan suara rakyat dengan ayat gini. Selalu semua keje backup je. Hahaha keep it up!
